James Morrell is a Compliance Specialist in the Office of Research Administration (ORA) for Harvard Medical School (HMS). In his role, James provides operational support for the export control and research security compliance programs for the HMS and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) communities. He partners with departments and offices within HMS, as well as the broader University community, to support best practices to ensure that research and sponsored programs are compliant with applicable laws and regulations, sponsor terms and conditions, and University and HMS policy. Prior to joining HMS ORA, James ensured regulatory compliance and public safety for casino gaming properties in both Massachusetts and New York for the state regulatory agencies. In these roles, James conducted complex financial, civil, and criminal investigations, as well as audits. James holds a BA in Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University and is also a certified Crime Analyst through the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services.
