Sheila began working at Harvard in November 2004, as a Grants Manager in the HMS Department of Genetics. In 2010, she moved across the river to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) where she worked in research finance, compliance, faculty effort reporting, and sponsored systems at the school level for four years. Sheila left FAS in 2014, becoming the manager of the cash team in the central Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP). After four years, while still in OSP, she moved over to managing eight direct reports who worked on sponsored financial deliverables such as invoices and financial reports for about half of Harvard, including HMS, HLS, and FAS. Sheila moved over to HMS ORA in February 2022 as Manager of Research Finance and Compliance, and then became Associate Director, Research Finance in June 2023. The HMS ORA Research Finance Team works collaboratively with departments, OSP, and others by providing guidance and assistance on sponsored audits, effort reporting, financial analyses, and research finance issue resolution. We typically meet bi-monthly with HSDM and HMS departments, in conjunction with OSP, to go over their research finance metrics. Sheila also provides tub-level approval on cost transfers, fixed price balances, and sponsored journals as needed. Prior to joining Harvard, she was a member of a touring alternative rock band. Sheila holds a BA in Music from Emory University in Atlanta GA, as well as a Master of Science in Management degree from Emmanuel College in Boston.
