Cores Facility Management System

PPMS Pilot launches November 2020

Cores Facility Management System

In early November 2020, HMS Research Operations will be implementing a new Cores Facility Management System, PPMS, starting with the Center for Macromolecular Interactions; Nascent Transcriptomics Core; Analytical Chemistry Core; Molecular-EM Suite; Bio-NMR Facility; and Cryo-EM Center. PPMS will standardize scheduling of equipment, ordering of services, financial invoicing, and the billing process. The system will integrate with Oracle's General Ledger by making journals for internal customers and integrate with Accounts Receivable for external customers. The system is intended to provide a consistent experience and avoid duplication of efforts and manual steps performed. Grants Managers of labs that use research cores will interact directly with PPMS and have the ability to validate/approve financial accounting strings and expenses incurred by PIs before sending journals to the GL. Training sessions will be held for grants administrators, who have researchers in the six pilot cores. Rollout to other cores will occur in 2021. Contact Nancy Jagaselvan to learn more.
